Do you remember these lyrics from the popular Christmas animated show? It’s such a simple song that we believed in as children but as we get older this simple act sometimes seems insurmountable.

So many of us are given the opportunity to lead and we don’t believe we are ready. I guess we’re waiting for the “magic” date on the calendar that says “Leadership Day.” Unfortunately, that magical day never comes when you continue to look for the magic instead of following your passion.

The call to leadership is often presented when others begin to notice your skills, talents and abilities. But it is also presented when people recognize your passion.

Leadership does not have to be a daunting endeavor. Once you get started, your skills will begin to develop over time. All you need to do is take the first step and accept your call to leadership!

#MondayMorningDrive ….Our Pick … Ray Lewis (@RayLewis52com), ...

#MondayMorningDrive ….Our Pick … Ray Lewis (@RayLewis52com), Super Bowl MVP, 12 time Pro Bowler and NFL Veteran Linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens.

If you are familiar with the game of football, then you have to agree that Ray Lewis has and is continuing to solidify his mark as one of the best in the game. But it’s not his work on the field that has encouraged us here at the Leadership Den to recognize him in our first post of the #MondayMorningDrive since our summer break. For us, it’s his work off of the field that has sparked this post today.

Lewis is well known amongst his peers as a take charge leader who reaches out to mentor some of the younger athletes. He’s also a very strategic entrepreneur with business initiatives that benefit a wide variety of audiences. But it is his charitable and community initiatives that are truly immeasurable. From the Ray Lewis Foundation to his assistance in and around the City of Baltimore, Ray has given as much of himself off of the field as he has on the field. He has used his celebrity as invaluable capital to make the lives and spirits of others better. For that, there aren’t any awards that can truly recognize that type of leadership.

So today, we recognize Ray Lewis as the newest member into the #MondayMorningDrive society.

For more information about Ray Lewis and his corporate/charitable initiatives, visit www.rl52group.com.

"Lead and inspire people.
“It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you’ll do things differently.” ~Warren Buffet

The majority of the world probably knows him because of his status as one of the wealthiest people in the world. But outside of his wealth and immensely calculated business/investment decisions and frugal lifestyle, Buffett is equally known for being one of the most giving people in the world. With a net worth in excess of $50 billion, Buffett has pledged (and has already started) giving away 99% of his fortune to charity.

We’re inducting him into our Autobahn Society because of his influence and ability to lead by example in business, philanthropy and life. We thank Warren Buffett for showing that the power is not just about earning money and building your net worth, but it is also in the gift of giving.

The Leadership Den’s chat sessions with emerging leaders...

The Leadership Den’s chat sessions with emerging leaders will be launching in August 2011.
